Louis-Gabriel Nouchi, the designer behind the Paris-based fashion brand LGN, was excited when asked to create costumes for the Paralympics’ opening ceremony in Paris on August 28. “I wanted to put all my heart into this project,” Nouchi said, noting his commitment to inclusivity at LGN, where he focuses on diverse body types.
Known for his contemporary menswear, Nouchi initially didn’t feel patriotic about the project despite his Parisian upbringing. Having trained in Belgium and worked in Italy, his international experiences shaped his identity as a designer. However, as he designed around 700 garments for performers with disabilities, his pride in France grew.
“Designing for people with disabilities is similar to designing for anyone else, but it requires different considerations,” he said, reflecting on the unique challenges and his newfound national pride. Photo: LGN.
