Dior’s J’adore perfume has become a modern icon, represented by some of the world’s most recognizable faces over the years. From supermodel Carmen Kass in the 90s to acclaimed actress Charlize Theron, who represented the scent for two decades, the fragrance has a history of glamorous ambassadors.
As Dior enters a new chapter of fragrances with Francis Kurkdjian as the perfume creation director, it makes perfect sense for another global superstar to join the ranks of J’adore ambassadors: Rihanna.
The singer and beauty mogul has a long-standing relationship with the fashion house. It all began in 2015 when Rihanna fronted Dior’s Secret Garden campaign. Now, she returns to the gardens of Versailles, collaborating with renowned photographer Steven Klein for the latest interpretation of J’adore, the L’Or Essence de Parfum. Following in the golden footsteps of Charlize Theron, Tiiu Kuik, and Carmen Kass, the Barbadian artist takes on the role of the new ‘face’ of the iconic fragrance, originally crafted in 1999 by French master perfumer Calice Becker for Parfums Christian Dior.
“J’adore is a unique fragrance. It is fresh and sexy at the same time. It is neither too spicy, nor too delicate, nor too clean,” says Rihanna. “J’adore has an aura. It expresses a true ‘essence’.”
