Domaine Rolet in Jura presents a unique addition to their collection – the Domaine Rolet Arbois Pinot Noir 1986 and Domaine Rolet Arbois Pinot Noir 1987. Both wines, bottled in 1500ml magnums, will be available in Systembolaget’s temporary selection. On April 5th, 140 bottles of Domaine Rolet Arbois Pinot Noir 1986 will be released, followed by 420 bottles of Domaine Rolet Arbois Pinot Noir 1987 on May 10th.
Domaine Rolet, a legendary estate in Jura founded in 1942, emphasizes small-scale, sustainable practices. They recently embarked on the journey to organic certification in 2020. Their wines are renowned for purity, balance, and honest expression of terroir.
Both wines, crafted solely from pinot noir grapes sourced from gravelly and limestone-rich soils, offer remarkable aging potential. After careful selection and manual harvesting, the grapes underwent fermentation and aging in 225-liter barrels for 15–18 months, with a third aged in new barrels and the rest in used ones.
Domaine Rolet Arbois Pinot Noir 1986 reveals a complex aroma of ripe red fruits, hints of autumn leaves, cranberries, and dark cherries. It boasts a light and elegant structure with delicate notes of dried fruit, oak, leather, cedar, and a lingering finish.
Domaine Rolet Arbois Pinot Noir 1987 presents a nuanced aroma of red berries, subtle earthiness, and autumnal hints. Its medium-bodied palate offers elegant flavors of polished leather, forest floor, red apples, and dried fruit, with soft acidity and silky tannins leading to a long and complex finish.
These wines exemplify the graceful complexity of aged pinot noir, perfect for pairing with charcuterie, cheese platters, flavorful pâtés, classic poultry dishes, sausages, tuna, rich paella, or enjoying on their own. Serve at 15°C for optimal enjoyment. While their aging potential is vast when unopened, once opened, consume within two days. Cheers!
