The legendary Narai Hotel in the heart of Silom is being reborn. In a prestigious partnership with Narai Hospitality Group, luxury brand Six Senses is launching its first urban resort in the Thai capital.
When the Narai Hotel first opened its doors in 1968, it was a pioneer that defined the Bangkok skyline. Now, more than half a century later, the site is set to become a world-class destination once again under the name Six Senses Bangkok.
The hotel will be the centerpiece of the visionary new Hatai district, designed by the award-winning British firm Heatherwick Studio. The architecture draws inspiration from traditional craftsmanship and lanterns, aiming to create a “District of Light” that illuminates the Silom area.
Intimate and Sustainable
Distinguishing itself from Bangkok’s many high-rise hotels, Six Senses focuses on an intimate experience with only about 100 spacious rooms and suites. As always, the brand prioritizes wellness and sustainability; the building is targeting LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications. In a beautiful nod to history, original timber from the old Narai Hotel’s foundation has been preserved and will be repurposed in the new interior—a symbolic bridge between the past and the future.
Wellness at the Top
The rooftop will feature an infinity pool that blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors, alongside a signature suite and restaurant designed by interior design star Joyce Wang. Naturally, the hotel will house an extensive Six Senses Spa, blending high-tech treatments with ancient wisdom.
Opening 2028
Six Senses Bangkok will serve as an urban complement to the brand’s beloved island resorts on Koh Samui and Yao Noi. The grand opening is planned for 2028, marking the 60th anniversary of the original Narai Hotel.
